Childrens Opening: Final Day of Filming

On the final day of filming, we filmed the fight scene in the dream between the hero and the villain. This went well and nothing went really wrong with the filming. The weather wasn't great but it helped the edgy evil impact of the scene, so that worked well. This filming didn't take very much time so we got back to class and then we started to develop our soundtrack for the movie, and we then captured the last bit of filming and we edited some more bits before we added effects and real transitions to our video.

Childrens Opening: Day 2 of Filming

On the second day of filming we were filming the scene about were the dream is entered and the area before the dream. This was filmed in a classroom to give you the idea that the hero is an ordinary kid in school and in detention. This scene took a while as Dom and I both quite often messed up on the dialogue so we had to re-film bits to perfect them but the film went OK and we edited and captured the scene in this lesson also.

Childrens Opening: Day 1 of Filming

Our idea for filming was we were going to film some of the opening and then do some editing on that scene, so in the end we got quite a lot done.

On the first day we filmed the lead up to the fighting scene. We did this filing outside because it seemed more suitable. This was a successful filming session and we got all we needed completed without much complications, but when we got back and captured our footage there was some problems with the audio of the footage and it was mixed up and wasn't in place. So to fix this, we moved it back in place and it works fine now.

Storyboard

This is the storyboard I drew for our Children's Film introduction, and using it we managed to keep a certain degree of control over our shot types and editing; although some improvements were made when actually filming.

Planning

Children’s film opening
Locations
Outside media studies – We will us the open straight of pavement for a wide space, which we will use for a climactic face off
On top of science block – we will se this so we can take a lo angle shot of the evil dude to show his tremendous power over the hero at the moment
Field - we will use this to show a panning shot of the battlefield and the any fights going on between good and evil
Random classroom – he’s sleepy and falls asleep in there into the dream

Plan of action
In the first scene we will use a lot of point of view shots as this is him in his dream and there will be a pan shot of the battlefield. We will also have a low angle shot of he evil dude and a high angle shot of the hero helpless and caught and showing his vulnerability at this point in time. This will all happen until he is abruptly woken up.

When he wakes up he is shaken up and looks around to find everything is quiet and tranquil. He meets an old acquaintance and they reminisce about to old memories using many two shots, shot counter shots and reaction shots to add emotions and the scared boys emotions. The whole school has disappeared to his dismay.

Our basic music

Today we have made the first version of the music track to use in our Children's Movie opening using Garage Band. Although it's just a basic idea, I believe we have all of the essentials in there, but we will perfect it once the filming is completed; therefore when we have the clips, we can just edit the music and video together.

The idea for our music is an to have an eerie feel, so it will reflect the situation in the film. This music is for the main characters 'dream', and will play whilst he is looking around his surroundings as well as the fight scene. The music starts off being mainly beats and will add to the distortion and confusing when he is looking around his dream world, but then guitars and tunes come in as he finds his bearings.

That is when he sees the main enemy in the scene, and the music suddenly goes quiet, leaving just the guitar sounds; this shows the tension between the two as they notice each other. Each of the characters have their own piece of music for their point of view, the good character's music is a guitar, but when it's the evil characters music, there is a dream building up, just before the main fight begins.

Just before the hero is defeated in battle, the music stops abruptly and he wakes up.
